ブルース系のギタリスト、ロイ・ブキャナンの未発表曲を含むベスト盤で「Sweet Dreams : The Anthology」。
このアルバムはアメリカの制作で、紙ケース入りの２枚組みとなっていて、詳細な解説書も有り、非常に丁寧な作り方となっている。
私はやはり、ディスク１の７曲目「The Messiah Will Come Again（メシアが再び）」が好きだが、５曲目の「Sweet Dreams」なども素晴らしい。
ロイ・ブキャナンは独特のピッキング、チョーキング、フィードバック奏法などを駆使したギター・プレイが特徴的な感じで、ブルース・ナンバーに限らず、ニール・ヤングの「Down By The River」、アニマルズの「C. C. Rider」（元々は古い曲らしい）、ジミ・ヘンドリックスの「If Six Were Nine」、「Hey Joe」、ブッカー・Ｔ＆ＭＧズの「Soul Dressing」、「Green Onions」なども演っているようだ。
ディスク２の８曲目「Hey Joe」には特に、"In Memory Of Jimi Hendrix"と書かれており、ジミ・ヘンドリックスへの傾倒が伺える。
このアルバムには、１９７２年の第１作「Roy Buchanan」、１９７３年の第２作「Second Album」、同年「That's What I Am Here For」、１９７４年「Rescue Me / In The Beginning」、１９７５年「Live Stock」、１９７６年「A Street Called Straight」、１９７７年「Loading Zone」、１９７８年「Live In Japan」、同年「You're Not Alone」などから選曲されている模様。
インターンネットの情報によると、ロイ・ブキャナンは１９４０年アメリカ、アーカンソー生まれで、１９８８年には自殺により死亡となっている。 なお、ディスク１のトータル時間は７５分２３秒、ディスク２は７７分１６秒となっている。 |
